Tags referring to Origin, Starter or Gender types are defined at the start of the game and can't be changed anymore. Race, occupation and fame are some key tags that may affect interactions with others, opening as many doors as they can close. Having a tag will enable certain choices during dialogue. The way the villain tag is handed out seems ambiguous. Edit Tags are character traits that affect others perception of the individual. Heck i often killed noble's in front of their guards by powering up and killing in 1 swing. however if you take that other vendor's item before killing him then all get negative rep with you. Once you're in Act 2, the easiest way to unlock Villain is to just consume the source of any ghost you find until that specific character unlocks the tag, then have the next guy you want the tag on consume all your spirits.
